TANGIER - Max Deal, 78, of Tangier, died Tuesday afternoon (June 15, 1971) at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville. He had been a patient for eight days. Born Aug. 14, 1892, in Tangier, he was the son of Albert and Mildred Holloway Deal. He was married to Blanche Walters who died in 1938. Mr. Deal operated a Marathon Station in Clinton before moving to Tangier. He was a veteran of World War I, serving a year in France. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mildred) Diskey of Fort Wayne; a sister, Mrs. Madge Cates of Wabash, Ind.; two brothers, Charles of Lodi, Calif., and Ted of Largo, Fla.; and two granddaughters. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Woodrow Funeral Home in Kingman, with the Rev. Ben Nickless officiating. Burial will be in Tangier Cemetery. Friends will be received after 4 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. - jlr
